In November my mom called to ask me if I would do Andrew's first birthday while we were in UT. I thought it was a great idea, and since Hanna and Hunter's birthdays are the first part of January we decided to include them in the birthday celebration. The only day we could really do it was on Sunday the 28th. We were in UT for such a short amount of time and we wanted to do it when Julianne and Anthony were going to be around too, so we had our Sunday dinner as a family, like we always do, then partied after. It was perfect!
We don't ever do much for birthdays in the way of parties, cake and ice cream with my family is usually about it. When we're not close to family then it's cake and ice cream with friends. It was fun to be together for a birthday party, the first in 16 months. We always try to skype when it's someone birthday, that way we can sing Happy Birthday and eat cake together, even though we are super far apart. I think Hanna and Hunter really loved celebrating with grandma and grandpa (and cousins and aunts and uncles).
Uncle Jason thought that Andrew needed a little before cake treat:
We sang to them all at once, it was quite a job getting a picture of each of them at the same time. Andrew really wanted that flame!
Andrew needed no help getting started, he knew exactly what he was doing and went all in.
After cake comes everyone's favorite time, presents.
Hanna got money from Grandma and Papa and Frozen stuff from Jamie, she was in heaven! (I can't remember what else she got....)
Whenever we skype with my family Brooky is right there on Papa's lap chatting with Hunter. They sat like this the whole time we were opening presents, it was SO cute! They are only 10 months apart and are best friends.
Hunter also got money from Grandma and Papa, he got an army play set from JoJo and a book and shirt from Jamie. He loved it all!!
My parents gave Andrew this huge stuffed dog, he LOVED it. His reaction to it was so so cute. He was moving so fast that it was really hard to get good pictures of it. He'd kiss it and then lay right on top of it.
And just for fun....We got Cafe Rio one day while we were home. Andrew wouldn't eat it. However as soon as we threw it in the trash....
He was all for it.
