Andrew went in for his one year check up the day after his birthday. He weighed in at 19.6 lbs, 8%. He was 29 inches long, 56%. The provider we saw was very concerned that he has crossed so many growth lines. He started in the 90th percentile, then slowly moved down, never maintaining a consistent level of growth. He also had gained no weight since his 9 month check up, he just stopped growing. At 9 months he was in the 30th percentile, and then 3 months later dropped to the 8th percentile. She wanted to have a few tests done to make sure nothing was going on that was causing his growth to stop. I never heard back from those tests so everything must have come back normal. She really wanted us to come back in one month to have him weighed again before she diagnosed him as failure to thrive, but since we were moving in just a couple of weeks we weren't going to be able to go back in. I'm not too concerned with his growth, he eats plenty. I guess we'll see how his growth is at his 15 month check up and go from there.
At one year old he has 4 teeth, two on top and two on bottom. He still LOVES being outside playing or going for walks. He loves to eat and has found that there are foods he loves some he tolerates and then some he just won't touch. We have to feed him one item at a time, fruit coming last or all he'll want to eat is the fruit. He still is very much a daddies boy. He gets so very sad when daddy leaves in the morning. He'll crawl after him just as fast as he can go with his head down crying. Sleep still isn't something he likes too much. He is up way too many times in the night for this momma and takes very short naps during the day. He is very snugly and loves his little blankey and has become a binky baby. Often he'll go to his bed and pull out his blankey and binky and walk around the house with his blankey in his hand and binky in his mouth. He recognizes people, and loves to wave hi. He's almost walking. He'll take a few steps at a time and then sit back down. He walks like a little monkey with his hands above his head. So cute!
I almost didn't have a birthday party for him on his birthday, knowing we'd have one when we were home in a few weeks. But then I decided at 4 pm on a Sunday evening that I indeed wanted to have a little party for him, that night, at 6. So I texted all our friends and told them we were having a party and to come on over. We had our awesome neighbors, the Reeces and Beheler's over. As well as our very good friends from church, the Castro's and Casillas.
Andrew destroyed his cake! He needed no prompting at all to dig right in. He was trying to get to it before we had the candle blown out. He took one taste of his cake and then tried to pick up the whole cake to take a bite of it. The cake fell apart and so naturally he shoved some down the side of him to save for later. We had my family in UT on skype watching the whole thing. They were having a birthday party for my sister at the same time over there. Andrew destroyed his cake, I couldn't believe how much of it he ate! By far the best baby cake smash we've ever had!! When the cake was all gone he picked up the plate and tried to eat that. He wanted more!
